Spore print of velvet shank mushroom. Made on top of an old german bread bag. Because this is an edible mushrooms, but can be mistaken with some deadly poisonous ones that have a brown spore print I tried and failed before at making this. Those mushrooms I did not eat. Maybe it failed because the mushrooms were still to small and not producing a lot of spores. This one had so much that a beautiful relief has been created by the spores.

What is very special about velvet shank is that it is frost resistant. So in a way it is also saying: fuck ICE.

Mycena Mushroom Releasing Spores

I had long wanted to make the distribution of spores visible. Today, I succeeded. I used my headlamp as a backlight and took the photo with a Nikon Z8 and a 105 mm macro lens at F8.0.
