Last month must have been an OK month for #solar generation: got an $86 #SREC direct deposit in my account, yesterday. Factor in that last month's electric bill was only about $90 (I use a consistent-billing plan that ensures that my electric bills are the same, each month, regardless of utilization) and, even though I only generate about 57% of my electricity (on an annualized basis), there are some months where my SRECs effectivey zero-out a given month's electric bill.
I finally got invited to the #SREC system for #NewJersey! Has anyone else gone through this process? Will I get credits for solar generation before my system was set up in the system? I assume not but that's sad! #solar

Just over a year ago I put solar panels on my house. Which means now is the right time to see how they did ...particularly as compared to what I was promised!

tl;dr - solar panels work, my home is now a net producer of electricity.

How Accurate Was The Solar Pitch

Reviewing end of year household metrics: used more #electricity than #solar panels generated, but resulting #srec sales more than paid for the electric bills. 😎

DC is going to boost legally required percent of electricity we get from solar up from 10% to 15%. This is a good thing! Despite all the whining from PEPCO / Excelon it is not a surprise and something they should be planning to support. In fact they should be planning for it to go even higher! Why not 30%?

D.C. Council Passes Solar Bill That Divides Solar Advocates

D.C. lawmakers are giving the local solar industry a boost, requiring 15% of electricity to come from solar by 2041.

DC has this odd “Solar Renewable Energy Credit” marketplace which basically forces non-renewable energy produces to pay folks to generate solar. It’s pretty great, but also complicated. My experience so far; https://miccolis.github.io/posts/2022-10-31-getting-credit-for-rooftop-solar.html
