(pro-)audio/recording folks, any tips for best capturing muffled, diffused low-end sounds? certain mikes, certain settings you would recommend?

we've got a zoom, but are not sure if it will faithfully recreate the sound—we've got a stomper living above us. they did not react well to our suggestion to invest in some slippers with rubber soles for € 5 tops, so now between 11pm and half past midnight, they are doing some extra rounds in their apartment.

Guten Morgen,

gestern zum ersten mal in der #elphilharmonie zu einem Konzert im großen Saal gewesen.

Auch wenn ich normalerweise mit klassischer Musik nichts anfangen kann, ist die Akustik unschlagbar. Man hat sogar jedes Rascheln der Zu-schauer/hörer gehört.

Diese Akustik bekommt man mit keinem Lautsprecher der Welt abgespielt und mit keinem Mikrofon aufgezeichnet. Einfach toll.

A team of students from Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy investigated whether recycling facilities could effectively sort plastics by the sounds they make when dropped, as density differs by plastic type. They worked on the project with the Reclamation Factory, a Pittsburgh-based company that develops technologies to lower the cost of recycling.
