Good, bad, and interesting:

Good: Took our nearly-naked Jenday conure to a new vet today. He thinks we may be able to overcome the plucking with meds and he could get some of his body feathers back. Other vets have said nothing works. We start them tonight.

Bad: We found out he has a grade 2 heart murmur, which may explain why he passed out from stress. (Someone new accidentally scared him.)

Interesting: We’re finding out “his” sex, in case the plucking is hormone related.

Kākāpō

The kākāpō, sometimes known as the owl-parrot, is a large, nocturnal, flightless parrot found in New Zealand. It appears in Māori mythology + was used by the Māori for both its meat + its feathers. Critically endangered - the total known population of as of 2026 is 235. Individuals are named, tagged + confined to four small New Zealand islands, all of which are clear of predators. However, in 2023, a reintroduction to mainland New Zealand (Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari) was accomplished. The sanctuary is surrounded by a pest-exclusion fence.

Experimenting with the idea of creating an image with the RGBI colorcsheme. RGBI stands for Red, Green, Blue, Intensity. It's basically the colorscheme used by the text-mode console on Linux - with the six primary colors plus black and white, and with bright and dark versions of each of those colors.
