Well why we call something steep and sometimes put a quite naughty expletive in front really showed its face today. The two first bits of up, gave me a good workout and the last one was knackering but fun as it was a scramble up to the peak. Sadly the downhill was very steep also so not much running as there were many a zigzag and tree roots hidden under fallen leaves. So it was more a power hike than a run today.

Well that route turned to be maze and a obstacle course. So many paths going in any direction that wasn't on a map and loads of fallen trees along with streams crossing the trails or was it the other way around. Lost a kilometer but the climbing over and under stuff made up for that.

A question for French runners in that French France, crocodiles, alligators or swamp thing?

Managed to stay dry untill the last km, the lass told me that it rained heavily all the time I was running but the trees kept us dry for 8km and then we got soaked.

What a brilliant little run, got all ready to get wet to the sound of rain on the roof of HQ and low clouds. As we opened the door it quickly turned to clear blue skies and sun warmed everything up fast. I did the longer and steeper route to the view point and meet up with the beautiful lass and Miss MoneyPenny. Where we enjoyed the stunning views, before we headed back together.

Tried out the effects of altitude training. We had to hide from some bad weather in the high Pyrenees and do some admin. So we took shelter in the low lands. Very humid and I took a wrong turn and missed out on 1km of planned distance. I think it was a correct turn as the off road bits was either sticky mud farm land or very overgrown paths, wet waist high grass, which was hard work, though the boy loves the tall grass. Watch said it would take 2h50m, I guesstimated 2h30m and I came in at 2h15m which I'm very happy about. And I planned departure correctly, as it started to rain as I got back to HQ.

The hills come alive to the sound of DAVE! DAVE! DAVE!*

Managed to get up just shy of 2000m, could feel it in the lungs and legs, so not so fast. The weather also started to turn with a rather chilly bite to it. We managed to find some snow which the boy loves to have a bit of zoomies in, how does he have the energy to do that after a 3km uphill ;)

* You have probably seen the meme of a Marmot shouting DAVE! Dunno what he is up to but they are clearly looking for him early morning. Which woke our two mutts up nice and early.

Yesterday it was a pea soup, about 5m clear visibility, now and again up to 20m. Not the best weather to go out in when the trails are unknown. Today we woke up above the clouds and ventured out to do little over 10km but because someone decided to put these stunning mountains in the way, it was not much of a run as I just had to fill my camera roll and therefore I missed a turn and didn't get to the lake I was aiming for ;)

Running about at ~1600m looking at the 2200m+ snow capped peaks. I've been up near the top of fews of these, where the lass has walked on the top of many of them. Still too much snow up there for me to play with, so I've have to live with the fact I can only look at them. I think it's a struggle I can just about handle ;)

On the other side of that 2800'ish meter high lump of rocks is our spirit home in the Pyrenees. It's been good to explore other valleys and col's but we can't wait to get "home" again. Yes, some of these mountains passes I've cycled in bygone years and even more has been done by the ever so stunning lass. She is out there riding one right now as I type this ;)
