A steady humid urban trails run'n'sniff, while HQ is in for her service. Driving around in the Pyrenees does work the breaks a fair bit. Good quite green lanes shared with cyclist in farmland just outside town. Only issue was the travelers encampment as they had loose dogs, lucky they stayed close to camp and didn't give chase after us. Plenty of streams to stop and dip Paddy boy.

Well that didn't go to plan. Set off early to beat the heat for a half marathon and 800mEg. The first 3-4km I just coughed and couldn't get enough air in, no matter how slow I was going. This drained me so much, that when I got to the halfway point, and saw that the farmers were out moving their livestock around and would be using the tracks and mountains, I was hoping to use, I decided to call it a day.
I think it was a mix of pollen, dust and not fueling enough, that made me weak today. But it was a stunning morning out for it in a beautiful location.

Stunning, great and spectacular day out, not that there was much running the first 5k or the following 5k and the 5k after that ;) A solid 700m up for the first part, then at around 2000m altitude the old service road was covered in rock falls and some snow and then turned into a dead end track. At the end there was a forestry house/shelter, which we had to climb up and around to get past. Then it was directly down, 250m in not a long distance, as it was a near a sher drop that serpentined it's way down past the concrete and iron snow protection for the village below. Then we hit then main busy path on this mountain, (as Brits would say it was like Blackpool Beach) where we meet 10 hikers and 6 trail runners for the next 3-4km down. Yet there was still another 3km to do before we could have a cooling down dip in the river.

Missed out on the glorious weather yesterday because of real life. So I was glad that I missed out on the rain, but had to run in the mountain clag, which was quite dense, so I still got wet like I've run in the rain.
Still truly enjoyed the run, but didn't have the oomph to do it at speed, which I put down to not feeding myself enough over the last few.

Ah the mountain fog/mist rolled in so I opted for a run in the woods as the views would be obscured anyway. Jolly good run along what is use for snowshoeing and VTT as the locals call it here. Lucky the highway men who were fixing a landslide on the forest track, let me past without paying the toll of running 5km back or adding 4km to the run.
Of course I started to sing the ever so brilliant song "Stand and Deliver" by Adam and the Ants (very much out of tune)

A few, ok many moons ago me and the lass rented mountain bikes and took the ski lift up this slope and gingerly rode down. At one particular steep bit we stopped to reevaluate our life choices, we were overtaken by a young lad. Let's just say that he "dropped by" us, his tyres barely touched the ground as he flew past, pretty much only on the hairpins. Don't think he had ever been introduced to brakes.
Lovely day out for it, just cold enough for Paddy boy if we took it easy and he got to dip in the various melt water streams. Hard to run up and down ski slopes and not stopping to look and this gorgeous place.

The old fans of Tour de France among us, will know this bit of road as the real route up the Tourmalet. They have been using the new bit, that Paddy is looking down upon, for at least 15 years. For some reason cyclist wants to use the new road. They are missing out on some of the best parts of the Tourmalet and get to cycle in nostalgia, back when it was real bikes, no electric shifting or carbon. I fast hiked this bit and then tried to be faster on the downhill on the other side of the valley. To be very humbled when a runner just zoomed past, barely had time to reply to his nod before he disappeared into the distance.
