Just a wee gentle run along a rail trail, not pushing hard yet. But there was some jumping over a stream, battle through some undergrowth and a visit to a wee Ermita to test out if the leg is better. When walking it's all good, but running down hill it still moan. So it is clearly worse than what I thought and need a few more "easy does it" days to get fully mended. Lovely running here would like to come back an try out the more technical and longer routes/trails up in them there hills.

Well my asphaltphobia of tarmac didn't get cured today. First time in 2 years of running I get an injury and of course it happened on the dreaded flat, smooth and boring road surface. Somehow I landed wrong with my right leg and pulled something above my knee which sent pain round to the back of the leg and right up to my gluteus sexius, as the lass calls it ;)

Good news, I was thinking about walking the last 2k as Paddy boy was looking a bit hot under the collar... well more his black fur... so the run wasn't too ruined. And I still managed to get back to HQ in under two hours as I had hoped to do the run in.

Otherwise it was a good run and we crossed paths with two lads on mountain bikes a few times and we were greeted with friendly big smiles every time.

Now stretching and relaxing and feeding.

Set out to do 6k, but at 2k to go the trail became too overgrown to run and then just puff gone. I tried to get back to HQ via an olive grove which turned into an abandoned garden with stone paths, terraces and holders for what I guess to be for torches. I think it would have looked amazing in its hay day. Ended up being 5km but jolly good fun on a trail that must be for mountain bikers too and in places I was in awe that they could ride downhill and stay on track and not into a tree.

So the choice of having 5k up and 10k down turned out to the the wrong decision/direction. As I got two nice cooling river crossing right from the start and had to run the rest of the 15k with wet feet. I should have gone the other direction and gotten a nice cooling foot bath 500m from the end.

Well that's gonna hurt tomorrow, best have a rest day then. Set off, took a wrong turn and ended up on a main road. Figure it would be easier to stay on for a km, even if it was the dreaded tarmac, since it wasn't a busy road. This deflated me a bit, so I turned to some good solid long haired cow punk for some serious air drum and guitaring that is the fantastic band called Disneyland after Dark (D-A-D). There might have been some very out of tune screaming, since I can't sing, along the way too.

Just shy of 10km, could feel yesterday's climbing and off-road/trail navigation in my legs when part of this run went up, the first hill really did. Else a wonderful route around some olive and orange groves and trails through a forest that didn't have caterpillars. Might have to ignore tomorrow's rest day since it's such good running here

I feel really bad that I've found a silver lining in the destruction from the horrible floods in this area of Spain back in 2024. Because this means that I can explore, navigate and do maps reading. Does this new animal track, river bed or farm track take me back on original trail, that was washed away. What if I climb this bit of rock or cut through this olive grove or forest will that head in the correct direction?

As you can see in the picture this used to be a concrete road. Spain heavily use concrete on their roads/tracks on really steep parts, better traction especially when slightly wet. This bit was totally washed away as the water decided to use this road to flow down the mountain.

Got up this morning, took the mutts out for their morning constitutionals. As we were enjoying the last of the golden hour, I noticed a funny looking stick, glistening in the rays. Then it clicked, it was the fecking Pine Caterpillars. We all did a quick turn about and made a b-line for the HQ. To only find another "train" of caterpillars right below the door step. We somehow not spotted then as we stepped out. Might not be a snake, but I still call them nope sticks. So morning run from there was canned. Found another picnic parking among orange and almond trees, but sadly this place was becoming a dump, totally neglected and overgrown and with overflowing bins with cats crawling around. Along with the farmer next door starting up a very smoky fire. So we move on again... And that was clearly why I was late, about 800 years, to come and help King James I, with the upkeep of this castle ;)

Just a PSA to you all. I like a wee bit of chia seeds on my breakfast and it's great fun to find a seed later on. Though be careful while digging and running at the same time. I found a good one between my teeth and skidded on slippery limestone at the same time. Luckily I didn't bite through but choice words were muttered out loudly.

It's been a week or more since my last run, taking the wee Miss MoneyPenny to the vet and this working malarkey put a spanner in my running plans. So there was some walking which I didn't mind as I had this view of the Med while looking at this sanatorium, not a bad place to come and to be cured.
