Yesterday it was a pea soup, about 5m clear visibility, now and again up to 20m. Not the best weather to go out in when the trails are unknown. Today we woke up above the clouds and ventured out to do little over 10km but because someone decided to put these stunning mountains in the way, it was not much of a run as I just had to fill my camera roll and therefore I missed a turn and didn't get to the lake I was aiming for ;)

Running about at ~1600m looking at the 2200m+ snow capped peaks. I've been up near the top of fews of these, where the lass has walked on the top of many of them. Still too much snow up there for me to play with, so I've have to live with the fact I can only look at them. I think it's a struggle I can just about handle ;)

On the other side of that 2800'ish meter high lump of rocks is our spirit home in the Pyrenees. It's been good to explore other valleys and col's but we can't wait to get "home" again. Yes, some of these mountains passes I've cycled in bygone years and even more has been done by the ever so stunning lass. She is out there riding one right now as I type this ;)

I think I passed French Trail running 101 level one - look like a French trail runner in French France - today, but failed level two - know where you are going.

For the first time ever I ended up in a trail running group, 15+ all kitted up, more runners that I've seen over the last four months of running.

They were arriving, going up, at the same fork in the trail as I was going down. They took one look at me and Paddy and asked us and not the runner ahead of us, if this was the correct way up?

Sadly this is where I failed level two and could only answer in my broken French - Désolé, aucune idée, c'est ma première fois ici.

Spent some time looking at the paragliders floating above us and out into the valley and the stunning mountains. A jolly good day out, even if it was like Blackpool beach (UK slang for a very crowded place and often said when you see 2-3 other the whole time you are out and about)

Followed the snow shoes route around this ski station started 1700m with an easy downhill down through the trees to 1450m and then a brutal uphill up to 1810m which opened up out to stunning views of the mountains. There was just enough snow for a zoomie from Paddy in one remaining drift. Arrived back at HQ and the griffon vultures arrived, are they expecting me to collapse into a heap? ;)

Another good run, if you could call it a run. Great trail up the hill and views through the trees, one cold toe dip in the snow melt run off, that was fresh. Down via a mountain bike route, that was rather steep and made it really hard to enjoy the fantastic views of the Pyrenees as your eyes had to be glued to the ground. Then around the lake which just kept asking for a snap of the snow capped mountains and their reflections in the lake. So not a fast run at all ;) Saw 3 other runner today, which is personal record, can't remember the last time I saw more than one other. Two of them were clearly out to do pace work for a PB or some other horrible zone thing. The last one was clearly out like me, outside time and fresh air in nature. No offense to the young lady, but she was clearly high as a kite in the "runners high" smiling like a loon, grin from ear to ear and bouncing along the trail. And when we passed each other she said Bon Jour like she was singing ;)

Glorious day out, though rather cold in the shaded forest where we started but once up the hill and out of the woods it was perfect. The trail lead along a valley and up to a peak where we got a clear view of snowy capped Pyrenees mountains.

It's hard to get tired of these mountains and we are yet to enter our favorite valley.

I started week 5 of my training today: 2x(2’/R1’ + 3’/R2’). This is Pépite after our run. I guess we’re both out of shape.
Then I thought it might help my nerves if I use my TENS unit, didn’t feel anything in my right leg and a tiny little bit on the left although I had the intensity on maximum. So useless 🥺
At least running is going a bit better 🏃🏼‍♀️

As we set out for today's run a tannoy was letting us know that a little market stall had just set up with pain, fromage etc. When we arrived back through the village I was treated to this view. And left with some pain de la nuil, pain au chocolate, croissant, local miel et six oeufs. Now a cup of Yorkshire tea, legs up and a afternoon of the Hell of the North bicycling
