That was my privileged choice. šŸ‘

Nothing I can do about #NBN , #Optus, #Immi, Education Directorate failing to enforce policy or make #ReasonableAdjustments for #SpecialNeeds students, next to nothing I can do about mistreatment in #AgedCare, getting #CleanAir in workplaces, (the list goes on)

But having to jump through hoops for the pleasure of trying to find barcodes to scan - at last, something I can can.

There's a massive mental health cost to being a positive person or being an idealist. You see the world how you think it should be.

Then reality hits, and the injustice of it all is perpetually disappointing.

I believe I’m temporarily exempted from this new policy while they try to find someone at the Ministry of Health whose job it is to match rare diseases to acceptable #ReasonableAdjustments.

Instead, we could make it a ā€˜reasonable adjustments’ request. This has the added bonus of being much more complicated and invasive and involving annoy a thousand people. Also, it requires (I kid you not) approval from the Ministry of Health. At least, so my manager tells me.

So she’ll get right on that … just as soon as she can figure out who at the MoH she needs to call in order to ask about my rare diseases that even my GP has never heard of.

This is a really long, detailed report from Ofqual into the remote invigilation of exams and assessments invocational training.
It's so disappointing to see this line in the report:
"This research did not include candidates who required reasonable adjustments. Therefore, potential issues that relate to how such adjustments would interact with RI processes and systems cannot be discussed in depth within this report."

My friend Mia Mantri has written in the British Journal of Social Work about her harrowing experiences in trying to get reasonable adjustments: https://doi.org/10.1093/bjsw/bcad026

All you people guessing that the answer would be some euphemistic form of no have clearly not spent enough time navigating the murky waters of corporate BS.

No is a final answer.

Bureaucracy doesn't do final answers. It just mires you in layers upon layers of red tape until you get fed up and stop asking the question.

Employee contracts aren’t something they deal with or can help with. But if I need a more ergonomic desk, they’d be happy to help with that.

I said in my request what #ReasonableAdjustments I was looking for.

They could have replied to say that wasn’t something they were able to help with.

They could have said they’d be happy to help with XYZ, but don’t get involved in employee contracts.

There was zero need to waste my time with this assessment.

This morning, we did the assessment.

At the end of the assessment, what did she say? Any guesses?
