I made a makeshift protective barrier around my baby blackberry plant, and it seems to have deterred whatever was eating the leaves! At some point maybe I will get chicken wire, but it was easier to use materials on hand.

I pounded four sticks into the soil with a stone. Then tied some English ivy vines around the sticks. Then I wove in some thorns from a wild rose bush (these are not be shown in the picture).

So, this fella does a lot of stuff without any precautions! I like the concepts, but if one is going to #DIY making #Lime, working with fire, etc., please use appropriate safety precautions!

I finally finished my very first leather project. Long delay because I needed a thimble for the last bit of work around the grommet. It was a ton of work, and it has MANY flaws, but I’m still digging it! 🥰

Apparently I’m really into leather work. Tried it out for the first time today, and it was way too cool. I can’t wait to finish this beginner’s piece. It will be a utility pouch w/ YKK (IYKYK) zipper and a grommet.

Commonly used cordyline (ti leaf) and trying out some false cardamom leaves. False cardamom is in the ginger family. I have lots of different kinds of ginger, so if this dries nicely and is strong enough for crafts or even gentle use, it will be great! #crafting #plants #fiber #feral #today #primitiveskills #weaving

My hubby has a hobby of seeing how many wood/dried plant stem or root combinations he can tease fire out of by rubbing two sticks together. He usually uses the hand drill method instead of the bow drill.

Today, he reached the 2000th unique combination of materials used.

Odd hobby, but then his wife's odd hobby is sharing news stories. Both do work with trying to bring light to a darkened world, you could say...

This is a close look at the polished, ram's horn slabs on a skinning knife I am working on. The black spots are carbon fiber pins, very strong, very light weight and very easy to work with hand tools. These slabs were shaped with files and sand paper, boiling water, and a lot of sweat. #blacksmith #blacksmithing #Bladesmithing #hunting #huntingknife #bushcraft #primitiveskills #art #artist

My hubs has an interesting hobby: He likes to make friction fires, the rubbing two sticks type of fire making. He started off using a bow, but now mostly does hand drill, where you just spin a stick against a hearth board

What he's really interested in is finding out how many different combinations of plant material he can tease fire out of. Tonight he reached #2163. Problem now is finding new plant materials! He's done the most common.
