Age verification requirements of OS's will lead to laptop vendors installing TPM like modules on motherboards then bootloaders being locked down to only allow government approved OS's. Open source will die out with Linus Thorvald's generations retirement. All new devices will be like phones. You get the OEM's OS or go to jail for circumventing DRM.
