Here is the end result of the handbag I was making. It is completely leather lined with two pockets and a key chain holder. Every part of this bag was hand formed and hand saddle stitched. It takes much longer to assemble this way but saddle stitching is far superior to machine stitching and results in something that, with proper care, should last for generations. #LeatherCraft #Leather #HandMade #HandStitched #maker #DesignedByHand
It took a lot of work and finesse but the mechanical skiver is finally working as it should! This will hopefully result in more consistent edges in less time. Piggleston PecanpantsI made a leather cover for my e-reader tablet with magnets that completely (and safely) encloses it. Not my most elegant work but I had to do a few work arounds to incorporate the magnets and make a spine that wouldn't crack when folded back upon itself. Also made a hard leather cover for my tablet today. It wraps around and snaps closed with magnets. There was no stitching because I used bookbinding techniques. Thinking of embossing the cover like a book because the exterior is kind of plain but the interior "end paper" is made from a nice green and black plaid fabric I made into book cloth using mulberry paper. #LeatherCraft #BookBinding #maker
Sometimes it's convenient for myself that I know leather work. I ordered an inexpensive bellows for the wood stove but it came with a cheap, ugly hanging loop and was hard to hang from the fireplace set. Fixed that in a jiffy using my new upholstery staple prying tool. Also got a new knife that fits my scalpel blades but it's half the size of my thumb. Cute but not practical. Made a small lantard that can clip to my travel bench or handbag. Handy to have and attractive. #LeatherCraft #maker
