printed out the first draft of "Dragon's Hoard". For my first board game I think it's pretty good I have a few alignment and scaling problems, and I need to do a big redesign of the lair mats, but I think it will be useful to get some play tests done before my next draft.

A totally noobish question for my fellow gamedevs. How do you communicate with testers? I didn't have many for our first game - I went through the RPG Maker forum with two, and a shared google doc with one, both worked OK. I don't have discord, so what would be the preferred way? Or should I let them choose (e-mail, DMs, shared - not google any more - document, something else)? Should they see other people's feedback? I hit decision-making paralysis here 😞

It was a very useful and honest test. Most players seemed to like the theme, but one thing became clear: the current version gives players too little agency.

Too often the game says “you cannot” instead of asking “what risk are you willing to take?”

I think I already felt that, but the test helped me name it.
The ritual is not dead. It needs rebuilding. 🔥
