Nie hätte ich beim Schreiben des Romans gedacht, dass Jeffrey zu einer Lieblingsfigur vieler Leserinnen und Leser der Romanreihe um #GlückskaterDarcy werden würde.

Er ist ja kein klassischer Held. Seiner Erfahrung nach sehen Frauen in ihm eher einen guten Kumpel als einen Mann fürs Leben. Seine neue Nachbarin und ihr junger Sohn empfinden anders.

Looking at the #NationalMashedPotatoDay hashtag I see that it has been going for at least a year.

It's sad that none of its proponents's publicity blurbs actually mention the mashing at all.

Isabella Beeton has more to say about mashed potatoes than WWW inventors of random holidays. It is a very poor effort to be outdone in C21 by Mrs Beeton in C19.

Here's another name for the fake silly holiday inventors to learn: Nigel Slater.

This week’s theme is to eat dishes that our son most likely wouldn’t like. He’s on a school trip to Amsterdam until Friday so we can explore recipes we haven’t had for a while for that reason.

The Real Deal Sesame Noodles were something I tried once and wasn’t that impressed. Part of the problem was not having proper sesame paste for the sauce and substituting with peanut butter (as suggested by the recipe!). This time I still started with peanut butter but then I took 5 Tbsp of white sesame seeds, toasted them in a frying pan and ground them very fine with my blender. I added those to my sauce too and that did the trick for me, the end result was much more satisfying than last time. Maybe proper Chinkiang vinegar helped too, who knows what I used last time not knowing what this kind of vinegar is. 😆

I love this incredibly aromatic Mushrooms with Ginger and Coriander dish by Nigel Slater but I didn’t prepare enough and had to add egg and pitas. I also cut the mushrooms too thin which made them too floppy. But the taste was still really nice and the additions worked well with the mushrooms.
