... and on the other recently-dead looking tree there was this, which is clearly something different. But I'd need to pull one of my books out to attempt to identify it. Or maybe fungus gnats^Wnerds here can just do that for us ;) [Probably dryad's saddle - seems very likely - thanks @nic]

(Only fair I guess that if I go posting a photo with Kat in it I'd better also post the one she sent of me lying on the ground to photograph fungus like some total weirdo lol.)

As an added bonus there were fungal delights in the churchyard, around two dead trees... the death of one of them probably not being surprising given it was surrounded by a veritable forest of what we believe is probably honey fungus (?).

It’s too late at night to text pretty much anybody I know. But I need someone to see this great mushroom. I mean this is just a top notch mushroom right here.

Seeing as it’s #MushroomMonday I thought it appropriate to post this song by the Tadpoles, Old Dirty Mushrooms (https://open.spotify.com/track/6PlnKsgTiShXBuQb2mcA7A). As a supplement of course I need to post an actual mushroom that was found in a forest at Walpole
