Incompetence and dishonesty by a #Republican candidate for #Congress in my local #elections ...
#CharlieKim , one of four GOP candidates running for #Illinois District 11, had to remove a FAKE #AI video endorsement from "Donald Trump" off his campaign website this week.
Kim blamed his staff for posting it.
The video showed "Trump" standing in front of a portrait of Kim, saying that Kim would be "incredible" for Illinois. But a local newspaper was able to easily and quickly get verification from the White House that the video was not real.
White House staff told the local #KaneCounty paper that all video endorsements are posted to Donald's TrumpSocial account.
After the Kane County paper told Kim the video was fake, it was removed from his campaign site.
So either Kim is dishonest for posting LIES, or he is an idiot for believing Donald Trump ever even heard of him AND rude for not calling to thank the POTUS for his "endorsement."
It's good to know that someone as careless and (at best) easily fooled or (more likely) dishonest as this dimwit wants to represent my city of #AuroraIllinois and the nearby communities.
Illinois' #PrimaryElections are March 11, 2026. Many early voting polling places are already open.
FYI: "Charlie the Chump's" Democratic competition is Rep. #BillFoster , and this is his website:

These are great photos. In a certain way, I think American newspapers and newsmagazines were two of the greatest legacies left by the US in its golden age.
"Newspapers, of course, are closing at an emergency-level rate—over the past twenty years, the country has lost more than three thousand. Newsrooms are closing even faster, as downsized staffs take refuge at smaller, dumpier dumps. For the past six years, Hermes has been documenting the lives lived in these dying places across the country, from Juneau to St. Louis. The spaces she captures tend to be beautifully abject. The photos are elegiac, sweet, and sometimes hilarious: a computer face-planted in an empty bullpen, a banner declaring “NEWSPAPER ADVERTISING WORKS” in a packed-up office, an editor presiding over a Last Supper-esque meeting. That editor looks as all news editors should: put upon and permanently disappointed. Looking at the image, I feel as though I’ve just handed him an article that’s too late, too florid, and ten inches too long."

I saw this while researching #genealogy in old newspapers:

"Local newspapers in the UK are disappearing fast, creating news deserts and leaving councils unscrutinised. Now, though, a new generation is reinventing community journalism"
" ”Spending on local news can lead to improved public spending. Once that watchdog function is gone, corruption increases”

The profession of journalism is facing a crisis. Recent years have brought devastating layoffs to nearly every major news outlet, with local newspapers shuttering daily. As these institutions crumble, we’re faced with a question: what does a world without journalism look like? This week, Adam is joined by journalist Matt Pearce, who recently experienced large-scale layoffs at the LA Times. Together, they discuss the industry’s apparent demise, the irreplaceable role of boots-on-the-ground reporting, and speculate on journalism’s future.
