Now I feel like #AI and the #AISlop purveyors are actively trying to drive us away from human creative pursuits.
It takes a lot of effort and humility to pick up and try to learn a craft or any form of art.
Slop tutorials, like those highlighted in this piece, burn people's precious time, energy, and (ultimately) motivation after frustrating experiences.
This stuff sucks!
Learn from these tips for spotting AI Slop tutorials and do art! Make crafts! It is good for the soul!
@colorblindcowboy And on the downstream side the copywritability (or not) of LLM-assisted work.
I agree there’s definitely more ownership/protectiveness I feel with my personal work/projects that have been slurped up. I’ve tried to stop AI with honeypots and poison pills but what we really need is legislation and real consequences for companies abusing copyright (and abusing server resources) or nothing will change.
Yeesh -- this sucks for someone like me, who is new to this sewing thing... apparently a bunch of AI spew now posted for patterns and tutorials. Argh. Looks like vintage patterns and DIY my own patterns....

@Owen_G_Richards Very much so.
I had written down everything I had already tested and checked, and the artificial idiot sent back the almost exact same list for me to check, missing 2 things I'd already done too.
This is going to save the world while burning it...
Oopsie (another paper in support of AI as a learning tool is retracted);
"The Editor has decided to retract this paper owing to concerns regarding discrepancies in the meta-analysis. These issues ultimately undermine the confidence the Editor can place in the validity of the analysis and resulting conclusions. The authors have not responded to correspondence regarding this retraction."

"The study claimed that ChatGPT improved learning. Now it has been retracted.
The research article recommended integrating ChatGPT into teaching and was widely circulated. Thanks to two Norwegian researchers, it has now been withdrawn. "
