The sound of inevitability

Have you ever argued with someone who is seriously good at debating? I have. It sucks. You’re constantly thrown off-balance, responding to a point you didn’t expect to. You find yourself defending the weak edges of your argument, while the main thrust gets left behind in the back-and-forth, and you end up losing momentum, confidence, and ultimately, the argument. One of my close friends won international debate competitions for fun while we were at university (he’s now a successful criminal barrister), and he told me that the only trick in the book, once you boil it all down, is to make sure the conversation is framed in your terms. Once that happens, it’s all over bar the shouting.

Childhood Bicycle Became a Symbol of Lost Opportunities - JB

Ah, the nostalgia of childhood dreams! From punctured bike rides to lost ambitions, indecisiveness steals our fun like a sneaky ghost.

Past or Future: Are You Stuck in Either of Them? - JB

Humans often oscillate between reflecting on the past and worrying about the future. Balancing these thoughts is essential.

Western democracies are not really taking the war in Ukraine seriously. Their unwillingness to help the Ukrainians to win leads to a World War I-like stalemate and a huge loss of lives. Indecisiveness and half-hearted measures will not stop Putin but will make him stronger and more resilient and will put us in a pre-World War III situation.
It's as simple as that.

One thing that's been profoundly helpful to me in making #decisions is letting a random generator do it, almost like rolling a dice. For choosing among 4 items, I just did this in #Python

from random import randint
randint(1,4)

I've recently discovered a method that greatly helps me with my #indecisiveness at least for small tasks. It is using a coding language and generating a random integer between some values I can't decide on. This way I don't have to use much #willpower and it's made my life easier
While reading "Getting Things Done" by David Allen, I found this really interesting and profound quote about #indecisiveness:
"Cognitive scientists have now proven the reality of 'decision fatigue'—that every decision you make, little or big, diminishes a limited amount of your brain power. Deciding to 'not decide' about an email or anything else is another one of those decisions, which drains your psychological fuel tank." #gtd #decisions #quotes
