Today in Labor History February 23, 1887: The Journeyman Bakers National Union was chartered by the American Federation of Labor. Its founder, George Block, was also nominated to head the newly-formed AFL. When he declined, Samuel Gompers was unanimously chosen. Today the bakers’ union is known as the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union. In July 2021, BCTGM struck against Frito-Lay in response to 12-hr workdays, 7-day workweeks, low wages and dangerous working conditions. In August 2021, they struck against Nabisco. And in October 2021, they struck against Kelloggs.

Carlos Veraza asume presidencia de Mondelēz México

Relevará a Oriol Bonaclocha tras siete años de gestión. Fortalecerá liderazgo en mercado de snacks.

La empresa Mondelēz Snacking México, propietaria de marcas como Oreo, Tang, Trident, Paleta Payaso y Philadelphia, anunció la incorporación de Carlos Veraza como su nuevo presidente. El nombramiento será efectivo a partir del 1 de julio de 2025, según confirmó la compañía.

Desde esta posición, Veraza dirigirá una operación con más de 15 mil colaboradores en el país. Su estrategia se enfocará en fortalecer la presencia de las marcas, impulsar la innovación y desarrollar talento de alto nivel dentro de la organización.

Perfil profesional del nuevo presidente

Nacido en México, Carlos Veraza ha ocupado cargos clave en la industria de productos de consumo. Ha trabajado tanto en América Latina como en América del Norte, destacando por su enfoque colaborativo y su capacidad de adaptación a distintos mercados.

El nuevo presidente expresó entusiasmo por este reto corporativo. “Asumo con gran entusiasmo el liderazgo de Mondelēz Snacking México. Estoy comprometido a trabajar con este talentoso equipo para seguir ofreciendo a nuestros consumidores experiencias de snacking únicas y deliciosas”, afirmó.

Experiencia en compañías globales
Antes de su designación en Mondelēz, Veraza fue vicepresidente senior de desarrollo de negocios para las Américas en Danone, donde trabajó por más de doce años. También se desempeñó como presidente y director de operaciones de Danone Estados Unidos.

Su trayectoria incluye puestos en Frito Lay Estados Unidos, Sabritas México y Procter & Gamble Latinoamérica. Es egresado de la Universidad Iberoamericana, con una licenciatura en ingeniería mecánica. Su experiencia abarca más de dos décadas en el sector.

Reconocimiento a Oriol Bonacloch

Mondelēz México agradeció la gestión de Oriol Bonaclocha, quien encabezó la compañía desde 2018. Durante su administración, se logró la integración con Ricolino en 2022, una de las operaciones más relevantes en la industria de alimentos en México.

Bonaclocha impulsó proyectos clave de expansión, posicionamiento de marca y fortalecimiento de la cadena de suministro. Su salida marca el cierre de un ciclo en el que Mondelēz consolidó su presencia como líder en el mercado nacional de snacks.

Retos para el nuevo liderazgo

El nombramiento de Carlos Veraza ocurre en un contexto de transformación para el sector de consumo. La digitalización, la sostenibilidad y el desarrollo de nuevos productos serán pilares en la estrategia de crecimiento. Mondelēz busca adaptarse a los nuevos hábitos del consumidor.

Veraza será responsable de acelerar iniciativas de transformación digital. También tendrá bajo su responsabilidad los proyectos de investigación y desarrollo orientados a la innovación en productos y empaques sustentables.
