Day 9 of the LGBTQ alphabet series: Non-binary people have been with us forever, just under different names. The concept of people who don’t fit traditional cultural norms of male or female has been around since the dawn of culture.
While the term “non-binary” is modern, it serves as an umbrella for identities like agender, gender-neutral, bigender, genderfluid, and genderqueer. Acceptance leans generational, but when any generation approaches the topic with a willingness to learn, understanding grows.

HAPPY #PRIDE!! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️⚧️ I've now added a #nonbinary version of the "Tranity Knot" that I did last year, and we also found a local shop that does good-quality t-shirt printing, so both of these will now available as tees to preorder! Please comment or DM if interested. (I may also offer these as stickers.) 😊

We have… A complicated relationship with our gender.
We've considered ourselves transmasc or men-leaning people our entire lives. And in a way, that's true for some of our sysmates! They're men or men-leaning and there's nothing you can do about it.
But if that's the case, why did we start to feel like prisoners of this label? That being a man(-leaning) is not cool and worth being ashamed of?
That no one will love us as a man. That we will be considered dangerous. Not attractive. Not even being worth attention.
Here's another question: we've never paid much attention to the term transneutral. But that's strange, because we have so many sysmates who would describe themselves that way. Why didn't we pay attention to it before? Why only now? And why it feels more freeing then identifying collectively as a man(-leaning)?
We feel so lost. All we know about ourselves is that we (most of us) are not women. That much we are certain of. But no more.

Yesterday we were at CSD, it was fun. But I realized once again: Going there alone, without anyone, is very difficult morally. Or with people you don't know.
With your best friends is another matter. As a bonus, it turned out that I have a hard time enduring huge crowds, loud music and a lot of noise. I felt isolated, dissociated, tired all the time and only communicating with friends on the Internet helped me to distract myself.
I'm sad that I'm like this. That it's difficult for me to be at such events.
But I'm still glad I was able to be there. I wore a non-binary flag on my back and a Ukrainian flag on my waist.

Which is cool as heck! :pleading3d:
