hi frens 👋 today I’m looking for your recs for #USBsticks that are actually USB 3.2 (at least #Gen1, prefer #Gen2 or better if possible) & if possible where to find them locally ( #Canberra )

I accidentally picked up a couple of cheapies that are only USB 2.0 (in the year of our $deity 2026!!?!?! 🤪) and I just. cannot. with the slowwwwwwness 😩

trying to find which stores might actually have USB sticks for sale that actually meet the brief is impossible as every single item listing has contradictory info about USB class & speeds – but then again when Sandisk also has incorrect & inconsistent class & speed info on their own product pages on their website ** I guess you can’t expect such tiny mum-and-dad stores like… ⚹checks notes⚹ …OfficeWorks** or JB Hi-Fi to care about such trivial things as “getting the specs correct” 💁‍♀️ 😤

so yeah, which are the brands that actually deliver high-speed USB sticks & where can I buy them?

#Kotatsu is EOL?!?>!?!?!!?!!!

The #datahoarders were right!! The hits keep coming. This #google thing is going to be a nightmare.

It's getting grim out there.

Okay #hardware #nerd types and #DataHoarders or #DigitalArchivists...

I'm using #Ubuntu #Linux on an old #iMac with #dvgrab to download the exact copies of all my #MiniDV tapes in #DV format.

But I have to say... This thing is a monster.

Can anyone recommend a laptop with #Firewire 800 that also runs Linux well?

OMG Social media improvement idea!
Option to publish individual posts to be, allowing no further edits except emphasis.

Like, you can change the formatting forever onward to be:
"make this bit bold", "italicise the other thing", or "strike-through that", "underline whatever".
Maybe add a redaction feature, in case you want to keep a post up, [but remove sensitive info you left in].

Or redact any hacked or bot posts, leaving that portion up as, like, "hey this is when stuff got annoying".

dear #lazyweb and #storage nerds and #datahoarders

i have a couple of of m.2 drives, a 2.5 inch ssd, a couple 2.5 inch hdds, and a pile of 3.5 inch hdds. i kind of want to jam all the 2.5 inch drives and m.2 drives together in a weird array for science.

i saw some external usb raid/jbod enclosures on scamazon that would hold 3.5" drives *and* m.2 drives but nothing for 2.5" and m.2. does such an oddity exist?

boosts appreciated.
