I'm using #Ubuntu #Linux on an old #iMac with #dvgrab to download the exact copies of all my #MiniDV tapes in #DV format.
But I have to say... This thing is a monster.
Can anyone recommend a laptop with #Firewire 800 that also runs Linux well?
If you "digitize" your MiniDV footage by plugging a $20 box from China into the red/white/yellow composite outputs of your camcorder so it can record a 2.5mbps 480p30 MP4 get out of my house. we dumping the raw 12GB DV stream over Firewire and upscaling to 1080p60 with AviSynth bitch
