Ugh.. dang it.... @mixxx is great software but it runs the db and settings files LOCALLY and thus in spite of installing it portable you still need to get into system files to access to DB. You can't roam with your database. You have to overwrite whatever is in the local library.
That is super annoying. A truly portable Mixxx would have been so great. At least I know now rather than tomorrow.
Here's the thing about this episode. I know Elon Musks designs aywhere. I've seen like 50 videos mocking how stupid his underground super highway is. On YouTube look for [Well There's Your Problem | Episode 43: Las Vegas Loop] for just ONE example. But the TNNL corporation is 1000% Elon's hyperloop. The thing is there's just 7000 practical problems with it. Half of which are obvious if you spend just 4 minutes and think it through. Some of which are apparent even in this episode. The practicality of throwing cars through tunnels just looks stupid. And while a remote hand derailing isn't real things CAN happen and when it does you have the job of how to deal with a sudden obstacle in a place where you built cars to go 80+ MPH. The safest option is hwat happens in the show which is to STOP EVERYTHING. I don't know why a reset would solve a derailing issue but the real point here is that it trapped someone in a car sized pod unable to do anything they can't emergency exit, they can't walk around they're just stuck there for however long it takes. The real crime of this episode is that it doesn't have any commentary on the TNNL/Hyperloop except a redlining throwaway like a baby version of Candyman. It doesn't mock the concept of TNNL. It doesn't suggest that TNNL is a failure. In fact it does the opposite. It suggests that in this universe TNNL not only works but is so successful that it can be a source of massive wealth. Next to that who cares if a personality AI is somehow too dumb to know that showing up out of nowhere would startle someone. That someone on the dark web would use their REAL PHYSICAL ADDRESS as a mailing address for dark web shopping. Who cares is Riri seems to have zero moral compass or issues with crime. They're not even trying to hide it or justify it. It's just a guarantee of paper so they say. It's the weakest prompt and she swallows it whole.
It's a fine superhero movie but that's kind of all it is. There's nothing really interesting to it. There's some jokes that don't really go anywhere like Thing growing a beard when the city has to turn off electricity. It's a joke that sort of popup and doesn't really land anywhere. IMO the most annoying part as a viewer is when Johnny points at Ben saying "You missed a spot" but because Thing is all rock and every part of him is the same color. You have no visual cue to what he's talking about. You can't see a "partially shaved beard" like the joke needs to land. So it's just this weird scene where you have to imagine a half shaved Ben Grimm because the movie is telling you this is really funny but you can't really see it. The idea that The Thing needs to shave in the first place is just flat out stupid in my opinion. Equally his resistance to saying "It's clobbering time". Joseph Quinn is pretty enough but he's not a compelling Johnny Storm. Not even in this version where all four of them are scientists and he uses his brain. I get it's really hard to follow up after Chris Evan's peak version but at least they tried in Fan4stic. The plot is fine. There's a little bit of world building then the herald of Galactus arrives to announce his next target. The Silver Surfer who is :gasp: a girl. Is that weird to me? Yes. Do I care? Not really. Then the rest of the movie is trying to stop Galactus. They do and happily ever after because after all this is just the _First Steps_. It's a serviceable plot. They hit the beats they need to hit. The sarcasm is toned down a bit maybe even too much. It's just in no way feels special. Which considering some of the low points we've been in lately with the MCU means this is far above average. Specifically I'm referring to Captain American 4, Antman 3, Dr. Strange 2. Even The Eternals tried harder than this. Doesn't help that it basically failed but it swung and missed. Fantastic Four merely bunts.
