Linux auf dem Mac: WLAN nach Upgrade futsch

WLAN auf MacBooks, Mac Minis und iMac unter Ubuntu, Debian oder Mint ist immer so eine Sache. Schon die erste Einrichtung kann einen zur Verzweiflung bringen. Blöd, wenn die Sache erst funktioniert und dann nach einem Upgrade des Kernels von 6.14 auf 6.17 dann nicht mehr funktioniert.

So, das Projekt #Linux auf dem ollen #Imac ist gut vorangekommen.

Die schwierigeren Sachen laufen alle: Exchange mit Kontakten und Kalender, Nextcloud genauso, MS-Teams, Mattermost.
Die wirklich wichtigen Sachen sowieso: Terminal, tmux, fish. Sway als WM ist unfaßbar flexibel, das verlangt dann aber auch einiges an Tuning, da war die KI tatsächlich hilfreich.
Was auffällt: Das ist bei weitem nicht so smooth und integriert wie MacOS. Selbst die Maus (Trackpad) ist flüssiger unter MacOS, die Shortcuts sind einfacher. Beispiel: Zwischen Workspaces wechseln: 4 Finger auf dem Trackpad nach links oder rechts wischen. Bei meinem Linux brauche ich eine Tastenkombination (ja, selber Schuld, wer einen Tiling WM verwendet, ich weiß)

Irgendeinen Tod muß man ja sterben. Bislang bin ich ganz zufrieden jedenfalls.

Wow, I just installed the latest #LinuxMint with #Xfce desktop on a 19 year-old #iMac with a beautiful 20" screen (4gb RAM, 1tb disk) and it's 😍

Absolutely usable for web surfing, emails, documents, like all normal office use. Blown away by just how good old hardware can perform if one uses the right software.

Je sens que mon vieux #T430s est en train de me laisser tomber. Disons, qu'il a un comportement plutôt erratique.

En attendant de me trouver un autre laptop, je pense que je vais convertir un vieux #iMac (2011) avec une distro   / ...

Probablement sous #Debian, à moins que quelqu'un ait une contre-indication?

Est-ce qu'il y a un meilleur choix que  ?

Mi #elivelinux en una USB con persistencia, funcionando en una #imac de 2011, la única forma segura, por el momento, de mantener #macos (ya anclado en la versión 10.13.6 por la política de obsolescencia programada de #apple) y comparar sus limitaciones artificiales con la capacidad de #gnulinux para revivir hardware.

Continúo, a paso lento pero constante, con mi proyecto de escritorio #steampunk. La principal novedad esta vez es una configuración de #fastfetch mejor adaptada al escenario.

Me gusta lo transgresor que es seguir dando vida a hardware entrado en años, MacOS no me permite actualizar Firefox más allá de su versión 112 ESR, ni LibreOffice más allá de la 7.1 (ya archivada); mientras que en Elive Linux instalo y uso sin problemas las versiones recientes de dichos programas.

Que ninguna multinacional sin escrúpulos (perdón por el pleonasmo) nos diga cuándo debemos deshacernos de nuestro hardware.

Puddling about in the #GRUB that #debian 13 (woo, upgraded the SDD!) installed on my ancient #iMac to work out why the menu is not displaying. (Only a single underscore is displayed, but the menu is lurking in the blind, and responds to key presses).

Have "In the Hall of the Mountain King" in my head.
Maybe this task is more "Orpheus in the Underworld"? IDK Certainly, I am imperiled.
