Western media needs to be constantly monitored as they continue to repeat false Israeli talking points.

During a May 14, 2026 broadcast of CBC News Morning Live, host David Common said:

“Shops have closed early and extra security is being deployed throughout Jerusalem's Old City ahead of today's Jerusalem Day marches. The day marks the reunification of Israel following the Six-Day War in 1967.”

In fact East Jerusalem, including the Old City, has not been ‘reunited’ with Israel but remains illegally occupied Palestinian territory. The use of the phrase "reunification of Israel" was inaccurate and highly biased, lending legitimacy to Israel’s illegal annexation of East Jerusalem.

Jerusalem Day is an infamous Israeli holiday notorious for violence against Palestinians.

This past week CBC News broadcast an on-air correction in direct response to a Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME) complaint.
