@SarraceniaWilds Anyway, one lesson I have learned over the years is that citrus does not like to be overwatered. It should dry out a bit between waterings.

I also have kept my citron tree outside in the summertime, as it enjoys the hot weather and plenty of sunshine.

And finally, even if you lose the above-soil growth you currently have, the tree may send up shoots from the roots to create a new tree. It may not be as pretty as the original, but the plant may still be alive even after the original trunk dies.

At least that has been my experience with this citron tree.

@SarraceniaWilds My experience may, or may not be helpful, but I thought I'd share anyway.

I have a citron tree (Citrus medica) that I started from seed about 25 years ago. I have kept it pruned up to live in a pot of roughly the size it is in for quite a few years now. This also involves pruning the roots every few years as well.

The tree moves to an office to overwinter, as citron cannot survive temperatures below about 5C/40F, and then spends from mid spring through mid autumn outside.

The tree, as it originally grew, had a single, main stem (trunk) and branches. About a dozen years ago, the entire tree began to drop its leaves, and it died within a few weeks. Or so it appeared.

Two shoots then emerged from the roots, and those shoots became the thin 'trunks' you see today. The tree flowers (as it is starting to do at the moment), but I have never had it successfully set fruit.

(Toot continues.)
