I've finished: Under the Eye of the Big Bird by Hiromi Kawakami
This was a surprisingly breezy read for such a complex novel. Perhaps because it is mostly told from the point of view of innocents.
There is allot of telling as well as showing but it works very well.
I didn't let myself get anxious trying to figure out all the connections between the different stories. I just let myself enjoy the moments of epiphany.
This is a philosophical work about what makes us human and weather we can survive on planet earth in a form that would still be considered human.
It works with many old and recognizable tropes, especially at the beginning, but it combines them in an interesting and very compelling way, and the ending is eye opening.
