Seasonal Bushfire Outlook Autumn 2026

The AFAC Seasonal Bushfire Outlook for autumn 2026 identifies a heightened risk of bushfire in New South Wales (NSW), Victoria and Western Australia (WA).

#ExtremeFireDanger was forecast for 5 districts on #Tuesday:

The south-west, the Wimmera, central, north central, & west & south Gippsland, with the remainder of the state with #highfiredanger.

Total fire bans in those 5 areas will be instituted from midnight.

Tuesday would bring “a classic fire spike day over Victoria” with temperatures “getting up into the mid-30s over much of the state, including Melbourne”. #weather #BushFire #Victoria #Prepare #ClimateCrisis

Someone's sent me a pic of where the various fire vehicles are. I will find out where he is getting that info as that's pretty cool. Apparently a BlackHawk on the way too.

On a 'Total Fire Ban' day, it is not illegal to: use a grinder in the long grass, weld bits onto your grease-encrusted harvester, strip paint with a heat gun, run a spotlight under a helicopter.

Not illegal, but ...
Not Clever.

Be clever. Stop. Have a bit of a think, work out where the sparks might land.
Maybe leave that job for another day. Maybe do your invoices or tax.
Maybe call your mum.
