Old tree fell down near our water tanks. Figure I can turn it into firewood.
And in case you haven’t seen it before: the absolute best way to fold your chainsaw chaps. Once folded, you can slot them over your saw cover to carry, or drop them into a bag.
That went alright.
Also pictured: my LogOX, which is the single best bit of kit I have ever bought for working timber. If you spend any time on a chainsaw, I heartily recommend you invest in one. US made, steel, tubing, and worth every cent, even at USD to AUD rates.

Mowing and trimming: done.
As ever, the back yard is 3 hours; 2 of trimming because of the steepness and trimming near the fence, and an hour on the push mower in the middle.
Achilles tendons: on fire. Ibuprofen and paracetamol for morning tea.
Fuck me, it’s raining *again*. Back half of 2025, we had almost no rain, and since just after Christmas, it’s barely stopped. Today is *supposed* to be 26°C and sunny and we’ve got light fog with steady light rain. Tanks are full. Useless leaky dam is about 1/2 full. Everything is utterly verdant and because it’s staying warm, growing rapidly. I’m going to need goats the keep the grass under control.
3 echidnas seen today. Surely that’s a good omen of some kind?
Misty.
A 30cm skink just now.
Cropped from a larger max resolution image, so you can zoom in for lots of detail—not too far, it's only a resaved phone pic!
I get lots of skinks, typically only ~10-15cm long—as you can see, they get bigger. We also get blue & pink tongues, which are longer & much wider skinks.
