Only uncertainty is certain - Call for donations for Abdalah
On Tuesday, 7th novemeber our friend #Abdalah was deported to #Ghana. Together with five #refugees, he had filed a #lawsuit against the house rules at the #Freiburg initial reception camp (#LEA) in 2020. The case is still pending before the Freiburg Administrative Court. We are protesting against the deportation mania and calling for donations for Abdalah.
The #police picked Abdalah from his #accommodation on Monday evening and he spent the night at the police station. On Tuesday morning, he was forced onto a charter flight in Munich at 7 a.m. together with other refugees. For Abdalah, the #deportation is the bitter end to his escape to Europe. He fled Ghana in 2007, crossed the Mediterranean in 2011 and then made a living as a cab driver in #Italy. He reached #Germany in 2019. Nowhere could he be safe.
Normally, the German state has to prove to refugees in the asylum procedure that they were not persecuted in their country of origin. As Ghana is classified as a so-called safe country of origin, Abdalah had to argue with his asylum application against the state's assumption that Ghana is completely safe. This reversal of evidence leads to low recognition rates for people from so-called safe countries of origin. Abdalah's asylum application was also rejected as manifestly unfounded.
#Homosexuality is a criminal offense in Ghana, and there have been repeated police attacks during demonstrations as well as intimidation and punishments against independent journalists. Contrary to similar objections, #Georgia and #Moldova are currently to be declared safe countries of origin. This shows: The #classification has nothing to do with the reality in the countries. Instead, refugees from these countries are obliged to live in reception camps in Germany until they are deported. They only have one week to appeal against the rejection of their #asylum application and are subject to a work ban that makes it impossible for them to obtain a right to stay through training. The real aim of this construction is to prevent #migration by disenfranchising people.
Abdalah's deportation must also be seen in the context of the current deportation mania. With Germany's support, it is not enough for the EU to bombard refugees with sound cannons. New migration deals were signed and Non-EU states are paid to send refugees directly into the desert. Anyone who survives this horror, like Abdalah, is then not allowed to find a rest in Germany either. #Pushbacks are already taking place at the Bavarian border, one in two detainees awaiting deportation is already being wrongly detained and refugees often receive less social benefits than the statutory minimum subsistence level. The federal government's new legislative package is now set to make all of this even worse. Driven by the idea that refugees would abandon their flight to Germany if they found out that they would only receive social benefits by payment card.
This blatant irrationality is not surprising. The politics are primarily interested in suggesting a change and by that is only representing the racist mob which is already in rage. The fact that, ironically, employers' associations are calling for more liberal laws and reminding politicians of their own national interests in a functioning economy shows just how much these citizen-friendly politics are inspired by their racist delusions. Once the right of asylum has been completely abolished, the dream of pure selection will come true: Germany to the Germans (and their highly qualified skilled workers from abroad).
At the end of October, Chancellor #Scholz was in Ghana to recruit skilled workers. He was confronted with students who spoke out against this #braindrain. Abdalah was already here and worked in a hotel until he was banned from working. Despite his precarious situation, he had the courage to campaign politically against his disenfranchisement and sued for better living conditions for all refugees. Abdalah spent 12 years trying to build his own life in #Europe. The deportation destroys this possibility. While still at the police station, he says on the phone that he cannot stay in Ghana and will soon be making the life-threatening journey back to #Libya. The fact that people seeking protection like Abdalah are thrown back and forth is the result of a racist ideology that needs to be criticized. We protest against the deportation mania and call for donations for Abdalah.
