“Movement improves quality of life of older adults”

In fact, #QED has proven popular with older people. They can move with ease and peace of mind, and people who pass them can give them lots of room.

Where Have All the Three-Bedrooms in Walkable Neighborhoods Gone? — Streetsblog USA

Growing families are struggling to find homes that meet their needs — especially in people-centered places.

We are all too aware of our vulnerability when we walk, bike or roll. Leadership at Ottawa City Hall would do well to recognize that and act on #880Cities rather than show a glaring bias towards driving.

Reimagining the Village

Reimagining the Village is a site-specific theatre tour written by residents of Cascade Village to activate public space in the neighborhood. In January of 2019, writers in the neighborhood started a course to learn playwriting. Now, see the work of playwrights Morgan Brady ("Clocks of Cascade") and Barbara Mitchell-King ("These Steps") revealed! Shows directed by Josy Jones! This is a walking tour, so please come prepared to be outdoors and to walk to each play location. THIS EVENT IS FREE! Start time is 2:30PM.  This event is made possible by 8 80s cities, The Knight Foundation, Art x Love and the Community Builders. Frequently asked Questions SITE-SPECIFIC THEATRE? Site-specific theatre is written for the setting where it takes place. RTV was written for public areas in the Cascade Village neighborhood. WHAT SHOULD I BRING/WEAR? Wear comfortable shoes. RTV is a walking tour. We will walk 1-mile during the event. Wear clothes suitable for the weather. Bring water, sunscreen, or other necessities. CAN I BRING MY CHILDREN? This is not suitable for children. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?It’s free. HOW DID THIS COME ABOUT?Working with Art x Love on the @PLAY Project, we learned that Cascade Valley (the neighborhood where Cascade Village is) had a negative perception by others outside of the neighborhood. Our experience was that of a welcoming, talented population of residents. We applied for funding through 880s cities to teach a playwriting course in Cascade Village to give residents the opportunity to reimagine their neighborhood and reshape its narrative. The original plays were written by Morgan Brady (“Clocks of Cascade) and Barbara Mitchell-King (“These Steps”).
