Perhaps a spicy #OttBike take but this might be my favourite time of year for bike commuting. Snow and salt are mostly gone so I can pull out my summer bike. If you dress well, the weather is fine and bikeways aren't crowded with people yet.

Another update from my run:

-Mud lake loop is 99.9% snow and ice free and only minimally muddy. I imagine other similarly wooded areas are in like conditions.

-Not many turkeys, they seem to have moved to other parts of town.

It has taken Belgium and the Netherlands by storm, but in the rest of the world, a wayfinding system based on nodes is not known. For fun, as a thought exercise, I created a recreational #bicycle network for Ottawa-Gatineau, based on nodes to see if that could work. -No longer any path-spanning snow or ice patches (on the main/through path, some side paths do have them still).

-Commute is faster and less stressful being away from drivers, despite being ~15% longer.
