The best low-volume street design doesn't need a "No Trucks" sign. It has a curve that trucks can't take.

If you want trucks off a residential street, design a corner radius tight enough that a truck can't navigate it. No sign. No enforcement. The geometry excludes what it's supposed to exclude. Signs ask for behavior. Geometry creates it.

Here's How Regulations Accidentally Killed Small Trucks in America

We used to have small trucks. Now, there's just the Ford Maverick. What happened?

Walking on Charlottesville’s beautiful and especially safe Elsom Street this morning. Streets this narrow and safe have been banned for a century, ostensibly for safety reasons since it is so difficult for trucks to race through at killing speeds. #cville #SafeStreets #DesignSpeed

“It is important that we keep our bicyclists safe, as they do not have the same protections as drivers and passengers,” said Gonzales Police Chief Keith Wise. “People of all ages use bicycles to commute to school, work, and other activities. Bicyclists, like all road users, have the right to #SafeStreets. We encourage drivers and bicyclists to look out for one another and practice safe habits so we may all go safely.” https://salinasvalleytribune.com/gonzales-police-promote-bicycle-safety-awareness/

"In 2022, the Municipality of Tirana, in collaboration with Qendra Marrëdhënie, implemented the first permanent school street in the city, located in front of Edith Durham School. This intervention addressed both traffic safety and broader social challenges in the neighbourhood, where fast-moving vehicles, lack of pedestrian infrastructure, and limited public space previously undermined children’s safety and community well-being."

Seattle Times opinion piece on Vision Zero is dangerously misleading

As usual, the "moderate" news agency never stops misinforming the public about the safety improvement effort Seattle has been making.

I'm never going to pay a dime for the Seattle Times.
