When the 12yo is having a rough morning & cannot make herself get out of the car when we pull up to #school, we try our very best to talk it out, and when that doesn't work, we drive away from school & go to a new-to-us used #bookstore & have #coffee & peruse #books for an hour before driving back to school & trying again, this time successfully.
She was 2 1/2 hours late to school.
I'm teaching her that caring for her emotional health is more important than conformity.

Elli's favorite days are when 12yo stays home from school. (The district is having kids work from home today because we had a dusting of snow. But they won't close schools for a week to stop the flu in its tracks.... 🙄)
I have never witnessed a cat love a human the way this cat loves this kid. 😊💜💜💜

Life sure is LIFING a lot these days.
I've got a lot going on with my own projects, the DAVE*, household, the elderly parents, the husband to whom is like to pay more attention, and the daughter's #6thGraderLife.
But it's only slightly more than I generally handle? So why am I feeling so frazzled & at loose ends & unfocused?
And then I remember, "Oh yeah, it's 12 days 'til Civil War II or no Civil War II."
me: you agree with that?
11yo: yeah
me: do daddy and i do that with you?
11: yeah
me: do we do it enough?
11: yeah
me: if we don't, will you tell us?

Tonight, we're watching #StarTrek TNG episode "Emergence."
