Other than that I'm saving money to buy own farmstead where I can build a proper workshop, and get back into making all matter of things by hand. I also might own to many #3dprinters possibly (can you have to many tho?)

I will also get an idiot goat and name in Ralf probably.

I'm also deep into #Gaming and prefer single player games with deep stories. I also spend a lot of time working at festivals and events because it is fun.

I also probably have my #fujifilm camera nearby a lot of the time

@selea @carapace i’m a huge fan of #SOVOL lately; they’re actually doing open source #3DPrinters correctly.

I have their SV08, which is a 3D printer hacker’s dream rig: everything on it works well enough, right out of the box, and most everything in the box is compatible with many of the Voron 2.4 modifications out there. https://www.sovol3d.com/products/sovol-sv08-3d-printer

The Sovol Zero is their take on the Voron 0.2 - I haven’t played with one of those but they seem to be well received by the community too. https://www.sovol3d.com/products/sovol-zero-3d-printer

I do however understand that a hackable printer may not be the ideal choice for a #hackerspace: there’s a lot of temptation to modify such a machine, and machine mods in a hackerspace often mean machines that just don’t work anymore, with a bonus side effect of members being angry with one another.

I've a somewhat bad luck with picking a brand that is highly recommended, even if they cost more at times compared to the competition, and end up discovering they're shitty literally so soon after my purchase.

That happened with
#Anker 's #Eufy, and it happened with #BambuLabs. For the latter, it seems that they're continuing their bullshit crusade against people freaking owning their #3Dprinters they paid for - including by hunting down #FOSS devs/projects that allow people to print stuffs on their printers without being spied on by Bambu Labs.

Seriously, fuck these brands and vote with your wallet. Also, if you've always been paranoid of American brands, don't forget to do so with Chinese brands too. You're a fool if you a think they're any better.

California’s 3D Printer Law Would Criminalize Open Source, Enshittify The 3D Printing Space

There’s been a flood of new state laws placing restrictions on 3D printing that are driven by sloppy moral panics about 3D printed guns (and a desire by large manufacturers to dominate the ma…

#NewYork proposed 2026-2027 #Budget currently includes provisions that will require all #3DPrinters sold in the state to run #Print-Blocking #Censorware — software that surveils every print for forbidden designs. This policy would also create felony charges for possessing or sharing certain design files. The vote on the state budget could happen as early as next week, so New Yorkers need to act fast and demand that their Assemblymembers and Senators strip this provision from the budget.

Well, the Prusa MK2 w/ MMU1 officially works.

(It's a waste to print something this tiny using a MMU, but I wanted to quickly try the thing out.)

California AB 2047: The End of Open Source 3D Printing

California just introduced a bill that doesn't just regulate "ghost guns", it mandates a digital kill switch for every 3D printer sold. California AB 2047 requires "blocking technology" that connects your printer to a government-approved database before every single print. If the system goes down, or your file is flagged, your hardware becomes a paperweight.

This isn't just about firearms. This is the death of Open Source. If this bill passes, it effectively bans Marlin, Klipper, and Orca Slicer, forcing every manufacturer to lock down their firmware. It turns general-purpose computing into a walled garden where you only rent permission to use the hardware you own.
