Hi, I’m Yessie, a legally blind dog mom. ♋️♎️♋️🌈♾️

I launched a brand new fidget toy product today!! Find them on my #Etsy shop at https://brittbuilds3d.etsy.com

ZORBLES - or as I affectionately like to call them - Smooshy Mooshies!

They’re small, handheld articulating fidgets that ‘squish’ and ‘pop’ when you press them, creating the coolest stim with amazing sensory feedback. You can get a case, too!

I’m offering them in three different colourways to start - Primary Colours, Rainbow Translucent 🌈, and Galaxy Sparkles!

First they ask for your date of birth,
but later they claim it's not enough.

Then they ask for your full name and location,
but later they claim it's not enough.

Then they ask for a copy of your passport,
but later they claim it's not enough.

Then they ask for your facial scan,
but later they claim it's not enough.

Then they ask for your fingerprints,
but later they claim it's not enough.

Then they ask for your palm scan,
but later they claim it's not enough.

Then they ask for a scan of your iris,
but later they claim it's not enough.

Then they ask for ...

Borrowed versions.

I don’t know who I am.
Discovering myself shouldn’t be this hard.
People go through phases.
Trends. Styles. Realisations.
They try things on, discard them,
keep what fits
until something starts to feel like theirs.
They experiment.
Get it wrong.
Change their minds.
I don’t think I’ve had that.
Not really.
I don’t know what I like.
Not in that instinctive,
immediate way people talk about.
I don’t get to look at something and just know.
There’s no moment of that’s me.
Everything I understand about myself has come through someone else first.
“this suits you”
“that doesn’t”
“you’d never wear that”
I’ve built something out of it...
Or tried to.
I don’t know who I am.
I know how easily I’ve been defined.
Even in what others thought were jokes.
“Oh, Luna?
She’s not interested in boyfriends or girlfriends.
Significant others. Nope.
She’s asexual.”
Said like it was settled.
Like it didn’t need to come from me.
I laughed.
It’s easier to agree than to admit
I don’t know if that’s true.
Or if it’s just something that stuck just because.
sure, I’ve had partners.
sure, I’ve loved.
Even that feels uncertain.
Like I experienced it without fully knowing where I stood inside it.
I don’t know what I should be either.
Every version of me feels like something I’m borrowing.
Like a little girl standing in her mother’s clothes,
shoes too big,
fabric dragging behind her,
trying to walk like she belongs in them.
Trying to make it fit.
Like I’m assembling a person from scraps
and hoping no one notices the seams.
People say “just be yourself”
like that’s something you stumble into.
Like it isn’t something I’ve been trying to build
without ever knowing what it’s supposed to look like.
I don’t know who I am.
Maybe, that’s not a phase.
Maybe, it’s just me.

Hello, Lovely Peeps! I saw this last night & thought it was brilliant - am posting in case it can help anyone! 😃

During the last year of Najma Omar’s doctoral program in occupational therapy, her prof asked them to think about tools that hadn’t yet been invented to help people — but should exist.

She thought about her sister, who struggled with finding a hijab that could help with her noise sensitivity without adding a lot of weight or increasing pressure around her ears, which headphones or earmuffs did, and developed the 'SereniHijab' (Serenity Hijab), made of lightweight fabric, and padding inserted into the hijab covers the ears just enough that loud sounds aren’t as overwhelming.

'For Najma, the SereniHijab isn’t just a business. It’s a mission.

“Islam teaches ease, compassion, accommodation and meeting people where they are at. Designing a hijab that considers sensory needs is an extension of that. It’s honoring faith while also honoring someone’s sensory needs and neurology,” she said.

“It’s making sure that all women like my sister don’t have to choose between their comfort and then their identity.” '

Expected to launch in May, the first drop ... 'will have 100 pieces, including 50 pull-on hijabs & 50 headcap and scarf sets. After that, the Sereni team will offer pre-order availability.'

Inspired by her autistic siblings, Minneapolis occupational therapist launches sensory-friendly hijab

Inspired by the experience of her autistic siblings, a Minneapolis occupational therapist has developed a hijab that uses lightweight fabric and padding added around the ears to help ensure that loud sounds aren’t as overwhelming for those with sensory-processing issues.

A lot of research shows a strong link between alexithymia & binge eating

Alexithymia = difficulty identifying what you feel

So what happens?

You feel something intense in your body - but you don’t know what it is

So the body looks for any way to regulate it

Food is fast - is reliable - it works

The second rlease for today is the stuff I did for #movuary . I used to feel guilty on the days I couldn't point to anything I'd 'done.'

But some of my most important processing happened while I was staring out a window, or lying on the floor, or doing absolutely nothing visible. 1/2
