After my father-in-law died, his two #cats moved in with a nephew for a year, and have now become part of our family. Now comes the process of acquainting these two old(er) ladies (11 and 15 years), with the new house and its existing inhabitants (2 cats and 2 humanoids). One would like to go exploring immediately, one is still very scared. Baby steps.

Hoooooollllyyy shit! It’s a brand new episode of Every Frame a Painting!! The first one in *eight years*. The seminal YouTube series returns with a video about the sustained two-shot. https://kottke.org/24/08/-new-every-frame-a-painting

I just got back from the XOXO Festival and one of things that happened was that Taylor Ramos and Tony Zhou showed their new short

Need some help from the #godotengine peeps here.

1. Is there a way to make non-fatal errors... louder? I spent an hour yesterday debugging why my game intermittently did not do what it was supposed to do, before I noticed there were errors in the output. The little red text goes unnoticed a lot by me.

2. Is there a way to make the editor open a new tab if you Ctrl+click things that lead to a different script (or docs)? I lose track of where I am at quite a lot :)

Seeing the #gamedev community use the word #postmortem to just mean "some post release analysis" is pretty confusing. (Most recently in yathzee's latest #SecondWind video about his startstruck vagabond).

Where I come from, it signifies some rather spectacular explosion in the project. Which always has me worried if I see it show up.

At the very least it is rather cynical and morbid, don't you think?

#horror #petpeeve saw slumberparty massacre and just once i would like for a cat owner in a horror movie to have the appropriate response to a crashing sound somewhere in the house:

A long sigh. And a careful consideration of what they just heard, to determine if it sounded expensive.

In stead we get the suspense and the jumpscare. All because Miss Blimpy had herself a little crisis.

Just look at her, between the boxes. Plotting the cliché.

Decided to give my old 2015 mbp a past lease on life with a new battery. The ALU body had actually started to deform from the swell of the battery.
Sometimes couldn't even click the trackpad properly anymore.
Closing the lid was impossible, it just stood there with a 3 cm gap.
The amount of energy needed to warp an ALU body like that... Scary stuff.

For the amount of money this cost, it ought to reach 10 years of usage tho. So I opened her up and holy moly.

#Steam's policy has generally been 'if you bought it, you can keep it' even if a Dev pulls the game after a while.

But that will need to change now, as this can still cause #unity to come knocking after it gets 'abandoned' (for whatever reason).

Steam will start disabling games that have been abandoned by their devs very soon. Otherwise they may be liable. Historic evidence predicts that they will err on the side of caution (like google's DMCA policies). Or yeah 'the side with the lawyers'

The French government is considering a law that would require web browsers – like Mozilla's Firefox – to block websites chosen by the government.

First week of trying to (finally) learn #blender. Messed around with cinema4d 20 (!) years ago so the basics are still very fresh. The plan is a somewhat 3d isometric platformer.

It was fun. The kind of learning where after a week of struggling and doing things horribly wrong, I can probably recreate that week's worth of work in a couple of hours now.
