Apple moves on. Linux gives older hardware a second life.
This video shows a 2019 MacBook Pro being revived with Linux Mint via the T2 Linux project. Even on hardware that Apple makes awkward to escape from, most laptops became usable again. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, webcam, mic and even the Touch Bar worked. Touch ID did not, but the bigger story is simple: plenty of "old" devices are still useful if you are allowed to run software that respects your control.
Support ending should not automatically mean landfill.
How much tech becomes e-waste because companies stop making it convenient to keep using what you already own?
