A few month ago, the journal
Geographica Helvetica
asked me, if I would mind to review Vanessa E. Thompson's &
Mike Laufenberg's recently published anthology on "Sicherheit. Rassismuskritische und feministische Beiträge"
at Westfälisches Dampfboot.
In short: I loved it! For a full exclosure of the long version, please follow this link:

Hey #geography Mastodon! @geography I had a talk prepared on the "carceral geographies of electronic monitoring" for a conference in December, but since the conference fell through, I'm going to put it out into the world that I am available to give an on-campus talk on the subject if your department is looking to fill colloquia slots. It's a good talk, too, lots of pre-published/unseen data + rethinking the carceral state. Hit me up.
Understanding a little bit more about the #fediverse through data. Here is a plot of all #fediverse instances at instances.social as a function of their number of users and toots (statuses) and if they are open for new accounts. In general, instances are small in the number of users (median = 28). Interestingly, there are a lot of small, very active, and closed servers in the #fediverse. Also, some of the biggest servers are Japanese communities.
Ich sag Euch mal was. Die WM-Ausgabe von 11 Freunde ist nicht nur verdammt guter Journalismus, sonder auch ein Paradebeispiel für die Stärken eines gedruckten Magazins.

Check out our latest article: "Legal Ecologies of Climate Change: How Farmers are Advancing Environmental Justice in the German Courts" by Sarah Klosterkamp. #legalgeography

"In May 2022, Allhoff-Cramer, a farmer in #Germany, sued #Volkswagen in German court, arguing that since Volkswagen is the second largest car company in the world, the company is partly responsible for the damage the farmer has suffered, and will suffer in the future, as a result of #climatechange."

Within my new project as a #PostDoc, I investigate how the #law proceeds and multiplies classed and racialized geographies of inequalities within and through state-driven institutions such as district courts by focusing on cases of #ForcedEviction specifically

I defended my dissertation last year, which centers German #antiterrorism trials in the aftermath of the #SyrianWar, spanning over five years (2015–2020). A short summary of my #Phd project can be found here, at Gender, Place, and Culture: ⤵️

Unpacking the ‘global’ and the ‘intimate’ of anti-terrorism trials

Based on a feminist political-geographical analysis of 45 anti-terrorism trials which got carried out in Higher Regional Appeal Courts in Germany between 2015 and 2020, I argue within my dissertati...
