Hi Mastodon Socials,
I am Sarah (she/her), Social and Political Geographer at the University of Bonn. My favorite topics here & in my writing: #FeministMethods, #LegalGeography, #SocialInequality, #CourtCase|s & #DataViz

I defended my dissertation last year, which centers German #antiterrorism trials in the aftermath of the #SyrianWar, spanning over five years (2015–2020). A short summary of my #Phd project can be found here, at Gender, Place, and Culture: ⤵️

Unpacking the ‘global’ and the ‘intimate’ of anti-terrorism trials

Based on a feminist political-geographical analysis of 45 anti-terrorism trials which got carried out in Higher Regional Appeal Courts in Germany between 2015 and 2020, I argue within my dissertati...

The Unnatural Legal Geographies of the Current US ‘Megadrought’

Extreme drought is ravaging much of the Western United States as water reservoirs and snowpack decline to dangerous levels. As panicked water managers seek immediate solutions to the impending crisis, the current “megadrought” also raises an important but often ignored question: what role does law play in creating and exacerbating unequal access to shrinking water resources?

Check out our latest article: "Legal Ecologies of Climate Change: How Farmers are Advancing Environmental Justice in the German Courts" by Sarah Klosterkamp. #legalgeography

"In May 2022, Allhoff-Cramer, a farmer in #Germany, sued #Volkswagen in German court, arguing that since Volkswagen is the second largest car company in the world, the company is partly responsible for the damage the farmer has suffered, and will suffer in the future, as a result of #climatechange."

Hello (this bit of the) world, I'm another newbie here!

I'm a legal geographer/political ecologist/gender, law and development nerd in the ANU College of Law at the Australian National University. I work on questions of gender, law and development, particularly in the Pacific. I understand #PacificStudies as meaning those scholarly traditions that are for, not simply about, Pacific people and places.

I have a book forthcoming on Gender, Property and Politics in the Pacific (http://tinyurl.com/32vbx268), focusing on gendered land relations in Solomon Islands and the diverse ways in which people engage with the law to enact a variety of futures. Pic below of the village of Buleani in Marovo Lagoon.

My new project looks at the way social movements engage with legal pluralities across the region. I'm looking forward to finding my way on this platform!
