I keep seeing people say Mastodon is nothing like Twitter. And they’re right.

Mastodon is an echo of the old internet, it’s decentralised, chaotic. What you get depends on your sysadmin. You can’t search, everything has to be shared to you by a human. Networks split apart and rejoin. What you see is your unique connection to it.

Is this good? Maybe. But for me that’s the internet I grew up with. No algorithms, no targeted adverts, just human interaction, and it was glorious.

The batshit thing to do:
Talking to Buzzfeed about how “this is all an organized effort by a woke crowd with bad intentions because we didn’t put a content warning on a food picture two days ago”

For some reason we’re in the timeline where @Raspberry_Pi decided to do the latter.

In other words, ISW also assessing not only that a #Ukraine-#Russia ceasefire is very unlikely in the near-term (and that Russia is uninterested in one), but also noting that Putin is specifically targeting Western audiences with the pretense that he is interested in one to cause friction, and allege that "peace would be available, if only US/Ukrainian belligerence did not prevent it"

Thinking about posting some of my old #photograhy work. Stuff that hasn't been seen anywhere in 10+ years. Like this shot of Stanley Lake near #Stanley, #Idaho. This was a two hour shoot standing on an ice shelf on the edge of the lake with a 15mph wind at 5°F (when I started) no one else was crazy enough to be within miles of the lake that night. Last mile or so was a hike in over a foot of fresh snow.

So, idk. Y'all want to see some old art of mine?
