I'm still learning to live and run. The longer I run, the more I learn the more I realize it also isn't about running.
Consistency compounds. It is how we get stronger, better. During my strength session earlier today, the reps didn’t feel as difficult as they did before.
It’s taken a while to get to this point. Consistency are the steps we take. We rarely, if ever, take leaps of progress. Sustained progress is one step at a time, consistently.
This is about running but it is also not about running.
Stay consistent.

I’m learning one of the not-so-nice parts of an athlete’s journey.
This #MedalMonday I embrace earning the Cape Town Marathon medal even if it’s not the way I wanted.
I went into it with half a training block because of disruptions.
Despite that, I finished. Way off from the time I wanted at the start of the training block. I qualified for Two Oceans Ultra #Marathon though.
I embrace the journey.
I’ve been a little out of action and quiet for a minute because well, life. A spanner 🔧 in works putting my #CapeTown #marathon grudge match in the balance. Still not sure if I’ll run it in a few days.
Not feeling great after falling sick. Today doing some light work on hills with the run crew did me some good. Something about encouragement from community.
And then @strava pumping me up. The beta stuff is kinda cool.
How’s your #running going?
Here’s one thing I think has made the biggest difference in my running journey so far.

The Park Run is one of my weekend features. Sometimes i time my long runs so that i do the last bit of them at the park run. I use them for 5K tempo runs, and recovery runs.
I love that they are accessible. Not intimidating, and welcoming.
Today I ran my park run as a check for a niggle from the week.
My park run is proper. It’s more park run than yours.
Besides a crew or club, do you park run?
One of the things I appreciate about running is the people you meet.
All on the same journey but not. Everyone with a unique story. Running as a lens through which we see each other. A way to share in our humanity. Life.
Learning to appreciate the other things that help me make me a better runner. Strength training. Cross training. And such.
