Speed limits on the autobahn? Believe it or not, a majority of Germans are now in favor.

In Slate, I wrote about rising opposition to extreme speeding in the country most famous for it.

Germany Is Famous for Fast Driving. That Could Be on the Brink of Changing.

It’s a heated debate—and it’s enviable.

This is a powerful article in the Guardian newspaper. We shouldn't send people who are shouting "Fire!" to prison, when there's a fire.

You may find Just Stop Oil annoying. You may dislike their tactics. But they do not belong in prison

These protesters are shouting ‘fire’ while the world burns. A society that locks them up cannot be called democratic, say campaigners Chris Packham and Dale Vince

First run as an oldie 👊 60 today so started the celebrations with a 10k including a 25 minute threshold session sandwiched in the middle. Made sure I kept to the script and within the zones allocated for today’s run so pace that bit slower than it would have been if a little bit cooler #running #10krun #thresholdrun #birthdayrun #polarrunning #runnersofmastodon #RunningCommunity #oldguysrule
Because that's how it works, right?

A lot of people are reluctantly supporting Biden but don't have any specific reasons to like him. There is a constant wail of how Dems barely hold the line while Reps actively destroy things. I think this narrative was correct for Clinton & Obama but is totally wrong for Biden. People don't see how different this government has been. Here is a thread of some of the things Biden's govt has done.

A sad morning at Highwoods #Parkrun this morning as we remembered Colchester running legend Arthur Whiston, who died just over a week ago. So many members of Colchester Harriers and Running Colchester came out for him and lots of memories of him around a course he ran and marshalled at so many times. RIP King Arthur, it was a pleasure to visit so many Parkruns and run with you. Well, watch you disappear off into the distance as I lumbered around at the back.
For comparison, Guardian article published over the weekend graded some of the above by risk of losing:
5/5 - Chalk
4/5 - Duncan-Smith, Harper, Hunt
3/5 - Shapps, Keegan, Holden, Stride, Mordaunt, Williamson
2/5 - Fox, Truss
1/5 - Cleverley

There may be more than one ‘Portillo moment’ this time, with the chancellor and a former leader among those at risk

Four of the thirteen polls are 14+ days old. But a quick skim of seats suggests:

- Likely to lose: Hunt, Mordaunt, Shapps, Rees-Mogg, Mercer, Duncan-Smith, Stride, Buckland, McVey, Coffey, Mitchell, Harper, Chalk, Fox, Villiers

- Likely to survive: Sunak, Badenoch, Braverman, Cleverley, Dowden, Barclay, Keegan, Chope, Patel, Trott, Williamson

- Close: Truss, Fabricant, Davis, Frazer

The MPs standing down and those at risk of losing their seats mean the parliamentary Conservative party could look very different after the election
