I voted against Julie Milner for county judge in part because she called for Biden to be executed but more because she used to posts her wordle scores on Twitter

xAI data centre emits plumes of pollution, new video shows

A massive data centre at xAIโ€™s controversial site in Memphis, Tennessee is emitting huge plumes of pollution, according to an environmental watchdog group.

even when done right, good machine learning products (image recognition, image generation, natural language processing, etc.) are extremely dangerous in the wrong hands.

and when done wrong (credit scoring models, public assistance allocation, criminality prediction models), bad machine learning products are extremely dangerous no matter who is using them.

(sorry, but the real "American Heartland" is Queens.)

@jianmin @oldladyplays @futurebird Sorry, but youโ€™re wrong.

Every soldier, airman, sailor, and Marine knows basic 22-5. They do formations EVERY DAY. They do a ceremony once a month or more, depending on who is leaving, taking command or graduating.

The original poster is correct. The slouch and off cadence walking was a choice.

Itโ€™s a good sign too.

Edit: FM 22-5 is the army field manual for close order drill/ceremonies. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Authoritarian rulers love military parades as a way of projecting strength and dominance - not only to an international audience, but also to remind their own people that they personally command the nationโ€™s arsenal and the coercive powers of the state.

None of this is subtle. Itโ€™s dictator shit.

I just deleted the last news app off my tablet. I think that at peak, I had about 7, including RTร‰, BBC, Irish Times, TheJournal.ie, The Guardian.

In every case, the app

1/ added no useful functions over a web browser
2/ omitted some key browser functions, e.g. zoom, select&copy, open in new tab
3/ generated annoying notifications

I was surprised. These apps are expensively built and heavily promoted. Yet in my experience they are crap.

Have I missed something? Does anyone use news apps?
