The problem with editing old books, films and TV to remove all acknowledgment of systemic prejudice is that it raises new generations to think that such prejudice never really existed, and that the social-change movements that fought those prejudices were lying and frivolous and unnecessary.

We already have GOP extremists forcing that notion into school curricula. We don't need well-meaning progressives aiding and abetting them in spreading that lie.
