A significant portion of Australia's workforce operates under either fixed-term or casual contracts. Our newest research in Australia aimed to evaluate the effect of these employment forms on starting a family.

We find:
- Men are less likely to have their first child when employed in fixed-term/casual contracts

- The impact of fixed-term contracts is nearly TWICE as strong as that of casual employment.

First decision on manuscript submitted for review to #europeansociologicalreview took exactly 4 years and 2 months. Today we finally got an R&R!! Well this paper, if it ever gets published, has taken longer to produce than my entire PhD manuscript! #esr #sociology #AcademicChatter @unimelbsoc

A new(ish) version of our paper Firms and the #Intergenerational Transmission of Labor Market Advantage is up on #Socarxiv: https://osf.io/preprints/socarxiv/mv3e9

We've added lots of stuff but what we worked particularly hard on is how #WeakTies are passed on from parent to child.

@perspektivbrocken can you please add me to the #sociology list? Thanks!
