Free travel on Friday and Saturday evenings is fine (though I wonder about take-up from the outer suburbs where you might want to set off before 6 if you're travelling by bus), but all day Friday gave a bit of incentive to leave the car at home. I would have preferred for it to be made permanent.

There are fears that Canberra’s growing population may not have enough public pools, as some are replaced with smaller facilities or more commercial outfits. The city’s underwater rugby team is one of a number of local sporting groups lobbying to keep Civic Pool — which is slated to close — as its training facility. Public submissions for the new aquatic centre in Commonwealth Park closed last month, and it’s not yet known if the facility will have a deep pool to accommodate diving and water sports like underwater rugby.
Matthew CullisFrom Friday the 12th, it will be free to use buses and lightrail from 6pm Fridays and 6pm Saturdays until the end of February.
