"From February 28 to March 2, hundreds of #abolitionists and #anarchists from across the country converged in Gainesville for the first Florida Abolitionist Gathering (#FAG). Across a passionate weekend of #workshops, films, food, #debate, #ritual, and #protest, the contours of a robust regional #resistance movement came into focus.
"The #intergenerational, heavily #queer and #trans, and strongly multi-issue and anarchist group of abolitionists that converged in Florida articulated an expansive vision of #liberation anchored in the urgent need to dismantle the #PrisonIndustrial complex in all its manifestations. The gathering showed that even as liberals wring their hands about the death of democracy, scrappy groups of organizers continue to fight back—and sometimes win—deep within the belly of the beast."

I just finished streaming the #movie #Thelma (2024) which was named the the best #InterGenerationalFilm by the #AARP during it's #MoviesForGrownUps award show that just aired last night.
#JuneSquibb who plays the lead was nominated for #BestMovieActress but lost to #DemiMoore in #Substance who won that award.
The movie is about a #Senior #Woman who gets scammed on the #Net & takes it's upon herself to get her $ back. There was a gun involved but think of it as the #Beekeeper without any killing. LOL! 😉
It's a delightful movie which portrays the #elderly in a truthful but respectful & amusing light & also speaks to the #intergenerational #wisdom & support that #seniors can provide to the young.

Organizations like Dorot and Eldera are connecting teens with seniors to foster friendships and tackle loneliness—a growing health crisis. These relationships benefit both young and old, providing mentorship, companionship, and improved well-being for all involved. 🌍
Last week, the Resolution Foundation and Connecting Generations teams launched the sixth Intergenerational Audit for the UK, evaluating the #economic importance of intergenerational exchanges.
This year’s report explores #intergenerational support, highlighting older #generations' financial and #caregiving aid and younger adults' unpaid #care for #ageing #parents.
