I miss those bottles of Modelo Especial which bore the inscriptions

DRINK SENSIBLY CONTAINS MALTED BARLEY

and

BEST BEFORE SEE BOTTOM

it lives!  JVM in Bash

for now it only has ~5 opcodes implemented, and one virtual method (println). So this is literally the minimal amount of Stuff to get a hello world working

next up, conditionals?

"Ah yes, see, computers are made up of lots of parts, but the most important one is the GPU, the General Processing Unit, which often shares memory with the CPU, the Control-Flow Processing Unit—"

@jwz in these trying times:
@rodgerd self-delivering combustibles. What a time to be alive.
@womble @rodgerd Ever since self-driving vehicles started to be a thing, I've be wondering (and fearing) how long it will be until someone uses one to deliver something a lot more sinister. What a time, indeed.
@rodgerd @jwz Wouldn't the person summoning the Waymo be immediately implicated in the arson? Or do they go to the trouble of burner phone + bogus credit card?
@isonno @rodgerd @jwz a burner phone for a burner car?

@isonno @rodgerd @jwz People who commit crimes with their own car often report the car stolen so that there's doubt that the car being involved means that they were involved. It's much easier to report a phone stolen.

It's also probably quite possible to mug someone and force them to unlock their phone, then summon the car, put the bomb or whatever into it, send it to the destination and then smash the phone.

The fact that the second is possible means that there needs to be evidence that it didn't happen to convict someone doing the first.

All of that said, I suspect that a lot of people are simply not thinking.
