I know tonight is as heavy as it gets, you have probably seen or read the worst already.

The vision #TyreNichols wanted in life to share with everyone was peaceful and beautiful.

Americans will really do anything to avoid using the metric system.

#Harvard is hiring a University Scholarly Communication Officer and Director of Open Scholarship and Research Data Services.

I was the director of the Office for Scholarly Communication. When I stepped down (semi-retired) last year, Harvard restructured the office and this job ad shows the results. Basically it's the ad for my successor. It's a plum job and I recommend it to anyone who wants to work at the cutting edge of #openaccess, #opendata, and #scholcomm.

Do you know modern plays based on Ancient Greek/Roman theatre that deal at any level with the history of black diaspora and/or are set in colonial or post-colonial contexts?

I've been writing about Pecong, by Steve Carter, a play based on Medea which is set in the Caribbean and has many Afro-Caribbean elements such as music, religion and society. Since then I've been interested in other plays that deal with similar questions, such as "The Darker Face of the Earth", by Rita Dove, "Odale's Choice", by Kamau Brathwaite, and "The Bacchae of Euripides: A Communion Rite", by Wole Soyinka.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Now that the great account migration is complete, take two with the #introduction post!

I'm a #sociology PhD student at UC Irvine studying sexual violence (including #TitleIX), #sexuality, #gender, #race, and #law. Most of my recent work is about women and genderqueer people on the U.S. Sex Offender Registry.

I'm very #queer, have been known to scream into megaphones, and will defend the Oxford comma to the death.

Please, if you are not a person of African descent, reconsider creating 1st-level toots using the #BlackTwitter #BlackMastodon #BlackFedi or #BlackFediverse, etc, hashtags. In this moment of flux, a lot of Black folks are trying to find each other via these hashtags. It might be more considerate to use #BlackTwitterAllies and other such hashtags to show support for Black communities without co-opting them.

Hugely enjoyed that game but starting a petition to bring back this 18th-century football kit ⚽️
