Does IT stuff. Vegan and anarchism curious.

Likes permaculture, infosec, Tranmere Rovers. But mainly bad jokes stolen from https://www.justthetalk.co.uk/thehaven/17468/urgent-i-need-a-good-joke-right-now

Added a new free malware reverse engineering lab 'Command And Control 1' which serves as an introduction to working with malware that communicates with C2 infrastructure.

Command & Control 1

A simple beginner-friendly example which obtains the flag from the C2 server. While this is a static analysis challenge, you'll still need to interact with the C2 server.

Friendly reminder that Slack is going to automagically enable their brand-new magical AI pixie dust in everyone’s workspace on (I think) the 17th, so maybe go log into your Slack admin account and maybe disable the AI pixie dust before it infects *you* #ai #slack #sysadmin #bofh #offbydefault #jfc #sigh

How many parked (unused) domains do you own? I have an idea and want to know if my assumption is correct.

A or B? Which would be your pick? Some very old drawings. I would do the MSTDN survey, but they don't allow images, still.

Just sharing this reminder of a really glorious day in the #mountains .
I spent quite a bit of time to find exactly THIS spot so that fore and midground blended so well together.

And currently I'm having this as a background image in teams. Sometimes I wonder if this might look unprofessional - and then I think "maybe I don't care".

@hikingdude
This is a gorgeous photo, Franz! Interesting the thought of it being "professional" or not. I sometimes find that "professional" photos are so heavily edited that they lose something -- looking less realistic. Your photo here is completely realistic and transports me right to the spot. Good one!

@TimKStanton thank you Tim.
Yeah this thought came along when I was in a presentation and all others had either a company background, their blurred background or a photo from the office building.

Maybe I'm just overthinking things.

Oh and I agree totally on the overdone photos!

@hikingdude no worries! Where I work, this sort of picture generally gets a response of “ah, that’s $mountain looking out over $lake, right? I just went there last year / we ski there / etc.” 😅
@slothrop
Ah great. Thank you for the feedback! That happens to me as well. Maybe the rounds yesterday were just too large that anyone dared to ask.
@hikingdude for a while I used one of my summit pictures as my zoom background at work. Was a great ice breaker/conversation starter.
@intrepidhero
😊 Right, that's how it should work! I guess people are were just too formal or hesitant to ask personal questions
@hikingdude Life is too short - use the beautiful photo!
@ElleAdam33
😀 Thank you so much for the motivation and confirmation 🙏
@hikingdude
You shouldn't....👍....it's gorgeous...✌
@540
Thanks! I'll keep it then. 🙏
@hikingdude if you have the kind of job that would penalise you for having this picture as a background, i'd suggest you quit and become a professional photographer instead :)
@sheislaurence
Ahhw thank you so much. That's the most motivating comment I read 🙏🙏
@hikingdude my meeting background image is a sunset photo I took on an island in Thailand
@luciedigitalni
Oh I'm sure that is pretty cool as well. 😍 I'm just imagining that scene - and try to get my mind there instead of the next meetings
@hikingdude
Very lovely and calming. Thank you for sharing.
@GlennMG
Thank you very much, you're welcome 🙏

@hikingdude

Beautiful picture. Go for it as your background

I use pictures from #APOD for my background.

I have threatened to use an image from my last colonoscopy...

@w_b
🤣🤣 I guess Astro gets more positive reactions 😝
@hikingdude I always use an outdoor photo as teams backgroun. Bugger the corporate image bullshit
@kcpoole
Yes right! Thanks for the confirmation. I'm not told to wear a corporate t-shirt either, so..
@hikingdude Préservons nos superbes espaces naturels !
@Raynald84
Merci beaucoup. Tu as tout à fait raison. Merci pour la confirmation. 🙏
@hikingdude Your background photo should reflect you. That's why I have a shot of elephants in the rain that I took myself.
@afx That's a good point. I like the authenticity
@hikingdude don’t worry about having it as your background. I have unicorns and rainbows as my teams backgrounds in every meeting internal or external.
I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve got comment on how great it is.
Yours would be great as a conversation starter, it’s a fantastic picture.
@Cyber_Unicorn Haha, unicorns!? Awesome
Okay, you convinced me!
@hikingdude What I'd care about is that this is absolutely astounding.
@CA_Hawthorne thank you so much Christina! Very much appreciated.
