In a field dominated by men, Chien-Shiung Wu became one of the most influential nuclear physicists of the 20th century.

Her research tested the fundamental laws of nuclear & quantum physics. She was the first Chinese-American elected to the National Academy of Sciences & the first female president of the American Physical Society.

Wu was awarded the National Medal of Science in 1975 & the Wolf Prize in Physics in 1978. She passed away in 1997.

A spaceship landed in the park. An alien emerged, holding a cat, which they put on the grass.
"Stay there!" the alien said.
The alien returned, and the ship took off. The cat yawned, then disappeared into a shrub.
Soon the spaceship landed again. The cat was carried out.
"Stay!"

Friendly reminder: The perfect is the enemy of the good.

Whether the problem is climate change, racism, or anything else, you're not helping solve things when you attack people whose initial efforts in that area are imperfect in your eyes.

Not everyone will give up fossil fuels and live in a grass hut to combat climate change. Not everyone will be a radical antiracist whose life is dedicated to the cause.

Appreciate and encourage the small steps people take, and continue to encourage more.

University: "We would like to have you join our team of world-class scientists to conduct your fantastic science in our environment."

Researcher: "Great, so how much are you going to pay me?"

University: "Oh, about that. We expect you to apply for your own external funding."
